Why UX is neglected and its consequences for your business!

User Experience is the heart for any product or service because without a customer to purchase the product or service nobody will manufacture or build a product or service in the first place. This is a fact but it does not mean that clean code and security is less important. 

E-commerce example from a security perspective

Let's imagine that a customer have an e-commerce site that is the most easy to use and to make customers purchase a breeze, and it has the best conversion rate possible, but it has a terrible security and the site constantly breaks? 

How long do you think the e-commerce owner is going to keep in business that way if his customers do not trust to use his wonderful easy to use e-commerce? Not for long however in this case the reason is clear - everybody knows that the problem is in the security and that the code probably has issues. 

If the owner of the e-commerce site knows the problem is security he invest on it and problem solved.

E-commerce example form a UX perspective 

Now the same example of the customer with an e-commerce site that has the best secure and clean code site anybody could even dream of, however the site is so clutter and with so many nuances that at the end the conversion into sales for the owner of the site is minimum. How long do you think the owner is going continue in business just with the cleanest and secure site in the world? Not for long either but the difference from the first example is that in this case the problem is not self evident. 

Nobody realizes that if the e-commerce owner had invested on research its users in order to shape his site into a more user friendly it probably would have saved his business. There are studies that changing even pieces of the design from one place to another in the layout it increases e-commerce conversions and by researching users many improvements can be made that this e-commerce owner will never know.

The Importance and the Differences 

Both areas are very important and you already know how important is clean code and security, however you might have missed the importance of UX because you only saw that without security nothing works well. 

My article was about how neglected is UX and you also neglected its benefits as most of the people I know within and out of the IT business.

UX is neglected because nobody fully understand what UX is and why it is important, not even most of IT business consultant, sales, customer managers, product managers, developers and designers.

Security is already a known and deadly serious important issue in itself and its on the news all the time, but UX is never news. Nobody even notice that a site that is not business productive with few changes can make a huge difference in business conversion and even save the business.

That is exactly my point with my article, open the eyes of people that do not fully know and understand the benefits of UX to consider getting knowledge on it because user-centered design should be taken seriously too.
